Personal Goal by 12/31/2008: 1,000 |

When we are blessed with a different reality, we often times are not sure we can endure it. Having had three children of my own and watching two of them suffer and eventually pass away due to untreatable medical conditions, I have some sense of what these parents may feel. Fundraising has been in most of our lives since school, selling chocolate, wrapping paper, etc. for field trips, operating expenses, and extra activities such as music or sports. For me, fundraising always seemed natural, I was good at it in school and always received the top rewards. My name is Jamie Aldridge. The value of helping others that I learned in school through these fundraising events has stayed with me through life. In 2003, I joined forces with some friends and organized a very successful scrapbooking event; www.cropforcancer.com. This event continues to grow and as of 2007 over $90,000.00 has been raised in the fight against cancer. In the midst of watching my little ones struggle, I felt led to find a way to help other families. In 2005, the creation of www.journalthejourney.com was born. This kit was sold to hundreds throughout the United States and for a short time, a portion of the proceeds were donated to the victims of Hurricane Katrina through the Feed the Children Foundation. Now, in 2008, I find myself aligned with Feed the Children again. Some may call this coincidence, I call it faith. Children are very dear to my heart. I was unable to help save my own children due to their medical conditions, however, I can help save other children. Nourish the Children provides me (and you) a way to reach out and help the children that seem unreachable; to provide hope to those parents who are currently enduring the unimaginable -- losing a loved one -- the loss of a child. |
